Wine lovers everywhere know instinctively that wine, with its centuries-old lore and legend, is one of life’s purest and most passionate pursuits. Well beyond the mere enjoyment of sipping a glass of great wine, however, exploring the history, culture and craft of wine and winemaking can be a deeply rewarding experience.
PūrVine, a novel new educational venture developed in a partnership between Avenue Communities, LLC and Ray Signorello, Jr., owner of Signorello Vineyards in Napa, California, offers wine enthusiasts a privileged opportunity to delve deeply into the culture of wine and winemaking. In what is the first urban wine education and winemaking facility in the country, PūrVine operates with a unique structure: it’s been created as an educational experience, enabling those who enroll to not only learn about “oenology” — the science of winemaking — but also to savor the experience of rolling up their sleeves and hand-crafting their own private-label vintages from some of the best fruit sources available anywhere.
Under the direction of Mr. Signorello and veteran winemaker and sommelier, John Allen Burtner, PūrVine students will have guided access to an exclusive realm of wine education and enjoyment, along with a rare opportunity to take a hands-on approach to creating exceptional vintages.
